Introduction to literary devices
Description:
In this lesson, students are introduced to the concept of literary devices and their importance in understanding and appreciating literature. The class explores six common devices—oxymoron, personification, irony, metaphor, alliteration, and onomatopoeia—through explanations and examples. Students participate in an interactive memory game to reinforce their understanding (could not upload this document - use the devices provided and their descriptions to make a memory game), complete an individual exercise by creating their own examples, and begin preparing a short presentation on a literary device assigned to them. By the end of the lesson, students can identify, explain, and apply these literary devices with confidence.
